Murdo, SD. Sept 12- As expected, riders awoke to a cold morning shadowed by dark skies. It was still blustery but the wind was not nearly as fierce as the day before. The temps had dropped and weather gear came out as riders prepared for a soggy ride. This was the most miles of any of our days and at 326-miles, it promised to be a very long day. I was riding in a sweep vehicle and, I have to admit, I didn’t mind once the rain began to pelt us. It lasted for several hours, but most reported a clearing by 1pm.
Our evening stop at the Pioneer Auto Museum proved to be entertaining. Dinner was hosted out front by the museum and our Cannonball badges got us entrance in to see the displays. There were several outbuildings housing the various exhibits and we took our time poking through each one before riders returned to their time machines and began to prep for the next day.
