It launches from Ludington Michigan google it for the ferry there should be a crossing and cost schedule

The one from Ludington is the Badger, which I rode on this summer. I think the one Fatdog is talking about goes from Muskegon to Milwaukee. I believe this is the one he's talking about:

RE: Motorcycle Cannonball 2011
It looks like a 22 JD for me without a restoration and still in some original paint waiting to be reassembled from a twenty plus year retirement. This bike is one that I would ride daily until the incorrect 1919 motor went south. I have since located and purchased a mint JD motor yes 74 glorious cubic inches of displacement to pull the big hills.

RE: Motorcycle Cannonball 2011
I expect if this comes to pass (and I hope it does for the sake of the hobby) there are going to be a lot of pre 1930 motorcycles being put back on the road. Wonder what's going to happen to prices of pre-1930 motorcycles and spare parts? Sure am glad I already have a couple of complete 1924 Harleys and a 1929 - just in case.

RE: Motorcycle Cannonball 2011
I have to add my wife's 2 cents worth... how about every other year for a Cannonball? It would give us all time to get our collective fecis (and money) together. If not I am still in. since it goes to '29 I am thinking 1929 DL It meets the year requirement and I can make one go 50mph! I am thinking I can call on my good friends and come up with the FatDog Racing/Harely-Davidson Museum/Vintage Motorcycle Works Johnny Sells/Scott Byrd D.D.S. General Dentistry Special!

RE: Motorcycle Cannonball 2011
Buzz, I found this pile of pre-1930 parts after Davenport last year. Filled my trailer, 2 tons and my pickup.
This was one heavy load. The Grapevine was not easy that trip. Going up was 30mph and going down was smoking them brakes. Here are a few pictures of the pile as I unload. Motors, frames, forks and many other things. Sold alot of it on e-bay last fall but still have alot to sell. No dashes, horns or headlights, no switchs. Three 1920 motors, 28's Flywheels, rods, time cases with covers ,oil pumps, and gears.
Been very lucky the last few years buying piles. The last one was a 100K Indian pile from one eyed Bob.
One more picture for a better look. And Yes I am sell parts and have a few basket cases for sale. 1916,1920, 1928"s,

Ok!
I've got a question for you.
Since the Henderson KJ was introduced in 1929, would a 1931 model still be eligible? It's pretty much the same motorcycle.

RE: Motorcycle Cannonball 2011
I just got back to NY from CA a few days ago. Rode another 1000 miles in Northern CA after Cannonball. Glad to be back home aafter a month away and I'm excited to hear that another Cannonball may happen. Here's my thoughts...

How about starting on the West Coast this time and riding East?
A NY finish would be great. There is also the new AMCA museum here in NY that would make a great place for a hosted lunch or dinner along the route.

Also, in regards to tie-breakers, I think it's only fair that this year the youngest rider wins the tie-breaker.

Youngest rider has the least experience and knowledge of these machines and this type of competition. The youngest rider has a greater disadvantage than the oldest rider by far.

I had a great time in 2010 and am looking foward to even more fun in 2011. If I am able to race again I will do it on my 1915 HD as I did in 2010. The bike is running even better than when the race started and it's ready for more punishment. I think the motor is finally broken in. Now I can really ride it to it's limit.

Thanks, #74 Steve Barber http://www.The74Shop.com
