RE: How Many Rules Are Really Needed?
Hi Alan.
I agree with the message of your post. But I wanted to correct one thing that you mentioned in your quote below. While this may be the first time that a lot of Cannonballers have ridden a pre1916 event, there are in fact several rides every year for early bikes. In the US there are pre1916 rides, in the UK they are called Veteran bikes (pre1915), in Europe they have several events (Old Kleppers, etc) and in Australia they are Veteran rallies for pre1919's. Some of these events have been occurring for a long long time, 80 years or more. I'm not trying to be dismissive of the Cannonball, it will kick ass and will likely be a once in a lifetime event for us to enjoy. But it won't be the first time that people have ridden a group of pre16's. regards, Pete Young (01-14-2010 02:02 AM)AlanTravis Wrote: This event will be the first time in a hundred years that a collection of 1915 or earlier bikes can be seen being pedaled , pushed, and ridden. The lunch stops and evening stops may have hundreds or even thousands of interested and excited onlookers. |
