RE: Rally Roadbook Holder
Hi guys,
I feel I need to chime in on this. I used the Touratech model roll charter holder on the last Cannonball. My crew figured out how to load it, but it did take time, especially if you have to cut and tape each page. I would definitely recommend you, or your crew, load it each night while doing other nightly maintenance (which you will ALL be doing, BTW.) It's too much to do in the morning. Around the middle of the ride, my crew put extra rubber bands on the outer part of the rollers, near the knobs since the bands on the inside started to stretch. This made it last all the way to Santa Monica, though it was getting pretty hard to turn by then. All in all, it is a pretty good product, and I would use it again if i needed one. It was great in the rain, never leaked even in the hard rain we had in NM. Good luck Cannonball 2012 riders! |

RE: Rally Roadbook Holder
I guess I'm just too cheap. I had a hard time pulling the trigger on a $200 box. I had a flash while wandering in Home Depot last week... see the pics on my blog: http://www.vintagebmw.org/v7/cannonball_blog

RE: Rally Roadbook Holder
The sample route sheets resently posted in our Event Regulations, has 4 colums. For 2010 we had 3 columns. Is this the way the sheets will be? If so, these sheets will only trim down to 7 1/2 inches. Some of us have the holders that will only hold 6 1/2 inch paper And it's too late to be ordering different holds.

RE: Rally Roadbook Holder
As I understood it, the example stage had a fourth column for comments about what to look at in the other three columns, and that the pages that are really handed out will only have the first three columns.
Also, if you read this entry from my blog, you'll see how I built a roadbook holder for about $12 that takes full width 8.5" paper: http://www.vintagebmw.org/v7/node/8925 --Darryl Richman Follow my Cannonball blog! |

RE: Rally Roadbook Holder
I just talked to our Course Master John Classen. He tells me the route sheets are trimable to 6 1/2 inches. So crisis has been avoided. See you all in NY.
