What to wear on the run?

Curious what others plan on wearing on the actual ride?

Sure would be fun to wear some period correct gear, but am thinking safety rated gear and modern and functional gear might be smarter. Especially on a 2 week run across the country.

I agree that starting off and ending in period gear would be the way to go... Also for any of the stops along the way where we have a nice welome planned...
Standerd DOT helmets, riding leathers,a few boots and rain suit will be in my bag....
Unless of course the 'team' chooses official riding uniforms...
If I can't get brakes to work... then I'll have to throw in steel soled peds too !

I found these old 1910's jodphurs in a vintage clothing store in Haight Ashbury last week. (And they are not even tie-dyed!)
The shirt is a repro from HD sold only at the Museum in Milwaukee. Boots I found on ebay.
I will also have some "regular" motorcycle clothes, high visibility HD jacket and rain gear, etc... But, it will be nice to have some of this old stuff to wear too.

I just ordered a great looking old-style leather jacket from Vanson Leathers. It's made out of horsehide and looks very retro correct.
