Congrats on accomplishing such an impressive line up so quickly.

Now let the whining, pleading and politicing begin! Rocket Whore

RE: The Cannonball is Full
I'm really disappointed to hear that the run is full. I really want to participate and just got myself a 1915 HD twin yesterday for the run. I was not aware there was a rider limit and just found out that this run was taking place. I am 29 years old and have never ridden anything older that a 36 knucklehead. This run is my dream come true. I really don't want to be left out of this event. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. To those who are organizing the run, please let me be a part of this event. If you can include me or if someone drops out please let me know.

Sincerely,

Steve Barber

Hey FatDog! Thanks for the support. Here's what I got to ride. It's no Panhead but she'll do me just fine. I didn't want to sign up until I knew I had the bike. Took this pic yesterday. I only got this to ride the Cannonball. I'm really hoping I can still join in on the fun.

Hi Cory,

I'm sure it's a great ride. I just have no knowledge of bikes of this era and have never ridden one. I'm sure this will open a new door of antique motorcycling for me. I'm a Panhead guy so this is a whole new world. I've done over 500 miles on my 48EL in a day but this is totally different. I'm planning on doing some 300+ miles runs with the bike over the winter to get prepared - if I'm allowed in the event. I'll just have to wait and see. I've been wanting to do something like this ever since my Mom & Frank Westfall rode a '28 Henderson in the Great Race in 1998. I've been jealous ever since. This is my chance to wash away all that jealousy and hopefully beat Frank, too.

RE: The Cannonball is Full
Hi SteveBarber,

It is nice to see your "real" bike and a 1915 Harley Davidson is like using a 1936 Ford for the GREAT RACE. Both these vehicles are plentiful and the combined knowledge, parts and expertise is at maximum. When I first learned about the Great Race in 1984 I went crazy with excitement. I joined rally clubs, antique car clubs and purchased all the info I could. I did the race a dozen times(1910 Knox and 1916 Mitchell) and finished in the top 3 almost every time. I prepared 3 sets of early J Harleys for an "around the world race" that the GREAT RACE was thinking about doing. It never came to fruition so I have never enjoyed an "Epic Antique Motorcycle Adventure"
You remind me of myself and you are the same age that I was when I first caught this wonderful illness of "antique mechanical dreams"
I am just one of the lucky competitors and have nothing to do with the promotion of this event, but if you are lucky enough to get in, I am sure you have LOTS in common with this group.
and I look forward to getting to know you.
