from day one jeff has been behind me 100 percent, hes building a one of kind decker original bronze for the single trophy,he´s riding in the event, and has been instrumental in signing alot of our riders.and just may bring the factory in.i talked to jeff yesterday ,and now he tells me that if the chosen route comes thru,or stops, in his town of springville utah, then he will clear out the restaurant he owns in town ,and throw us a party to remember. food ,drinks, on the house. he is also offering use of a full blown machine shop ,and work space. springville is just south of salt lake. maybe something to consider ,on the route planning. make sure and check out his site.
I would be honored to roll out the red carpet for anyone who could make it as far as Utah on a pre-16 machine! Regardless of the route we choose, I am sure we will find enthusiastic friends along our way that will open their, doors, garages & arms to welcome us!

Jeff is a great guy (with a sly sense of humor) with some terrific bikes and artwork well worth checking out if you can.
Jeff, I love your work, and I feel you add a touch of class to the event. I am glad you are involved. Welcome to the forum!

nice to have you on the board jeff, have you decided on a machine yet? any of your input on the roads thru utah would come in handy.we also need your input on the routes and miles per day discussions that are ongoing.would your neighbors mind me pitchin a tent in your front yard ,and changin my oil ?

Of course my neighbors will mind!
That's why I encourage every noisy, greasy & 1/2 broken machine I can get!
I have a secure studio, restaurant & home with plenty of beds, room for tents & trailers, as well as a bed & breakfast at our disposal or hotel at 2 fwy off ramps...
Vince's 1915 HD (ex Steve Mcqueen) twin sounds tempting, or Lonnie Sr.'s 10 HD single, or
the Cyclone. I don't know if I'll be able to prep a machine of my own... or just beat up someone else's!
That's the spirit Jeff! It sounds like Utah should be a must!

In regards to possible routes from the east, I-80 would kill us with sheer boredom, I-70 would be too harsh on the bikes going over Vail pass, but I-40 would be sleepy and beautiful. From I-40 we could stop in Spingville. The next morning take I-6/50, which is called "America's Loneliest Road" from Utah thru Nevada to California. Image no Walmarts or McDonalds for days! I've done it many times and although remote, there are just enough fuel stops and places to rest.
My gaol in this whole project is not to win, but finish. To me an old motor is a new chasis is only cheating myself. I want to feel a sense of accomplishment akin to that of which Mr. Wyman must of felt on his California a century ago. I've gone from coast to coast of our great country by bike & car, but this is different, I want to put myself in the shoes of the forefathers & founders of or great community!
